Rheem R802VA07542117MSA Error Code A225_F: Internal Fault: Gas Vlv 1 Rly Welded Shut
What Does Code A225_F Mean?
Fault code A225_F on the Rheem R802VA indicates that the relay on the IFC board controlling gas valve 1 has welded (fused) shut. Electrical relays can weld when a large current arc fuses the contact surfaces together. Once welded, the relay cannot open regardless of the command signal from the main processor — meaning the gas valve remains continuously energized even when the IFC tries to shut it off.
This is a critical safety fault. A gas valve that cannot be de-energized will remain open, allowing gas to flow to the burners whenever they cool down enough to ignite, and potentially during periods when no combustion is expected. The furnace cannot be safely operated in this state.
The welded relay is physically part of the IFC board and cannot be repaired individually. The entire control board must be replaced. Before service, the manual gas supply valve should be turned off to prevent any gas flow through the stuck-open valve pathway.

When to Call a Professional
Contact a licensed HVAC technician if:
- Turn off the manual gas supply valve immediately and call a technician — this is a critical safety fault
- The control board must be replaced by a qualified HVAC technician; the welded relay cannot be repaired in the field
- After board replacement, the technician must complete the Bluetooth programming steps and verify the gas valve operates correctly before resuming furnace operation
