Rheem R802VA07542117MSA Error Code A221_F: Configuration Data Restore Failure
What Does Code A221_F Mean?
Fault code A221_F on the Rheem R802VA indicates that the IFC board attempted to load its configuration data from non-volatile memory during startup but the restore operation failed. The configuration data contains operating parameters and settings for this specific installation. Without this data, the IFC cannot operate the furnace with the correct behavior.
The R802VA IFC board stores configuration data in internal non-volatile memory. When the board powers up, it reads this memory to restore its previous configuration. A restore failure means the memory has become corrupt, unreadable, or was never written in the first place. This can occur due to a power surge that damaged the memory cells, a board that has experienced partial data corruption, or — in the case of a replacement board — configuration data that was never written.
To resolve A221_F, a technician with the manufacturer's Bluetooth contractor app must reprogram the configuration data onto the IFC board. If the board memory is physically damaged and cannot accept new data, the board must be replaced. Either way, the Bluetooth programming step is required and cannot be completed without the contractor app.
