What Does Code 11 Mean?

Status code 11 on the Carrier 58MVP means the control board's diagnostic memory is clear — no fault codes have been recorded. The 58MVP stores the most recent error code in memory so technicians can retrieve it later, even if the furnace has resumed normal operation. Code 11 simply means there is nothing stored.

The furnace automatically erases stored codes after 72 hours. So if your furnace had a brief issue that resolved itself — such as a momentary pressure switch trip from a wind gust — the code would be stored for up to three days and then cleared. Seeing code 11 after that period is expected.

You can also manually trigger a code recall by disconnecting the R thermostat lead, resetting power, and setting switch SW1-1 to the ON position. If the furnace displays code 11 during this recall, it confirms no faults have been logged since the memory was last cleared.
