Carrier 58MVC Error Code 41: Blower Motor Fault
What Does Code 41 Mean?
Status code 41 on the Carrier 58MVC indicates that the ECM (electronically commutated motor) blower failed to reach 250 RPM or lost communication with the control board. The control board monitors the blower motor through a communication link — if no response is received within 30 seconds of startup, or if communication drops for 10 seconds during steady-state operation, this fault is triggered.
The 58MVC uses a variable-speed blower motor that communicates digitally with the furnace control board. When this communication fails, the furnace cannot verify that air is being moved through the heat exchanger, which is essential for safe operation. Without confirmed airflow, the furnace shuts down to prevent overheating.
The most common cause is a failing blower motor, though loose wiring connections between the motor and control board can also cause this code. In some cases, the control board itself may be at fault. A technician will need to check the wiring harness, test the motor, and determine whether the motor or the control board needs replacement.
