Bryant 355MAV Error Code 41: Blower Motor Fault
What Does Code 41 Mean?
Status code 41 on the Bryant 355MAV indicates a blower motor fault. The control board detected that the blower either failed to reach 250 RPM within 30 seconds of being turned on, or lost communication during steady-state operation (detected within 10 seconds of communication loss).
The Bryant 355MAV uses a variable-speed ECM blower motor that communicates digitally with the control board. Unlike a standard PSC motor that simply runs when power is applied, the ECM motor and control board exchange data about speed, torque, and operating status. When this communication fails or the motor cannot achieve the requested speed, the control board cannot verify that airflow is adequate to safely cool the heat exchanger.
A failed ECM blower motor is the most common cause. The motor's internal electronics or control module may have failed even if the motor windings are still intact. A wiring or connector problem between the control board and the motor is the second most likely cause — loose plug connections, corroded pins, or damaged wires can interrupt the digital communication link. A technician can test the motor with diagnostic tools to determine whether the motor, wiring, or control board is at fault.
