What Does Code 2 Blinks (2-sec pause) Mean?

The 2-blink status code on the Ruud UGPH-07EAMGR indicates the pressure switch circuit is open. The pressure switch is a safety device that confirms the induced draft motor is creating enough negative pressure to safely vent combustion gases out of your home. The furnace will not ignite until this switch closes.

If the pressure switch does not close within 60 seconds after the draft motor starts, the control board will shut off the draft motor for 5 minutes and then retry. This cycle will continue until the issue is resolved.

The most common cause is a blocked or obstructed exhaust vent pipe. Snow, ice, leaves, bird nests, or insect nests can block the vent where it exits your home. A disconnected or cracked pressure switch hose is another common cause. A failing induced draft motor that cannot generate sufficient suction, or a defective pressure switch itself, are less common causes.
