What Does Code Red 2 Flashes Mean?

Two red flashes on the Goodman GMEC960803BN control board indicate that the pressure switch is stuck closed when it should be open. Before the ignition sequence begins, the control board checks that the pressure switch is in its normal (open) state. If the switch reads closed before the inducer motor even starts, the control board will not proceed with the startup sequence.

The most common cause is a pressure switch with contacts that are physically sticking together due to wear or contamination. Over time, the switch's internal contacts can degrade and fail to release properly. A short circuit in the pressure switch wiring can also cause this reading, making the control board think the switch is closed when it may not be.

In rare cases, the inducer relay on the control board itself may be stuck closed, causing the inducer to run continuously and keeping the pressure switch engaged. This is a less common but possible cause that requires control board replacement.
